Frequently Asked Questions
How do I order a bin?
There are two easy methods that you can order your waste disposal bin. Call our toll-free number at 1 (877) 324-5329 and speak to a local representative in Alberta, or submit a quote request using our online form here.
How soon do I have to call to reserve a bin?
Collective offers service within 48-hours of request when required. It is always advisable for clients to notify us as soon as possible to avoid any interruption of service such as severe weather, road closure, etc. Collective also offers premium same day service or immediate orders. Talk to us to know more about this offer.
How do I pay?
Collective provides several options to make your payment process easy:
- Cheque mailed to mailing address on your invoice
- Credit Card
- Pre-Authorization – can be set up via debit or credit card
If you do not have an account set up with us, we require deposits prior to all deliveries or services.
Do I have to be on-site when they deliver the bin?
No. Detailed instructions on where you would like the bin to be placed must be provided prior to delivery, and we will take care of the rest. For precautionary purposes in order to protect our client’s property, particularly the surface where the bin is going to be placed, it is advisable for the client to add a membrane down prior to delivery. We suggest for all aggregate driveways that membranes are placed to avoid cracks and scratches to the surface. At this time, Collective does not provide protective membranes.
Do I have to call or does the bin gets picked up automatically after the agreed upon rental period?
Unless a pre-arranged time has been scheduled in the service agreement, we do not pick-up the bin until we are notified and a pick-up arrangement is made and confirmed.
Will the bin damage my driveway?
Our bins have rolling wheels at the bottom to assist in rolling the bin into place. With that being said, these bins are extremely heavy and even with our smallest bins there is still a possibility that damage could occur. To help mitigate any possible damage, clients should place a flat piece of plywood underneath the bin’s ideal location to avoid any such possibility of damage.
Can I place it on my lawn?
This is not recommended. There is a high potential for damage with the weight of the trucks.
Can I place it on the street in-front of my house?
It depends on your local bylaws. If you are not sure of what applies to you, contact our office and our staff will be happy to help.
What can I throw in the bin?
Visit our list of acceptable and prohibited items here for more information on what can and cannot go into a bin.
How much can I throw in the bin?
We are restricted by transportation regulations on the weight of a truck and the method in which it is being transported.
Our bins can be filled to the top of the walls as long as nothing is sticking out and everything is packed inside the bin. Having contents hanging over the sides and overflowing will cause issues for our staff when picking up the bin and ensuring that the contents remain in the bin during transportation. If you are unsure of the size of bin needed for the type of waste you have, visit our waste bin sizes guide here or contact us and we will happily assist you.
Can I move the bin?
Clients must never use equipment/vehicles to try to move the bin. Any damage to the bin or driveway will be the responsibility of the client in these instances. If the bin is moved by a client, the driver may not be able to pick up the bin if its position were changed.
