OUR TEAM OF PROFESSIONALS

Collective has been providing waste management and related services to commercial and municipal organizations throughout Alberta since 2006.  Our focus is to create waste solutions for long term sustainability while developing strategies to reduce excess waste, simplify waste removal processes, and lower service costs. Collective is comprised of highly trained personnel with strong educational backgrounds in  waste management, engineering, construction,  agriculture, disposal alternatives, and operations.  We value a friendly, direct approach that only a local company can provide, focusing on professionalism and attention to detail. Current Opportunities

  • Roll-Off Operator

    Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Truck Operator is accountable for the safe operation of the equipment while loading and unloading a variety of waste from various collection sites to approved disposal locations. This position is offered in both our Calgary & Edmonton locations.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Successfully and safely operate roll-off trucks and other related equipment, including pick-up trucks
    • Perform work assignment received from the supervisor, normally without close supervision
    • Prepare, maintain, and present work orders, equipment maintenance, incident and safety reports as required
    • Ensure trucks and equipment are safely and securely stored when not in use
    • Advise supervisor of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
    • All paperwork, including entering data in the daily logs, is completed and submitted accurately and on time
    • Operational efficiencies, processes, and procedures are evaluated and improvement recommended, if any
    • Continually practice and implement safety procedures to target zero incidents/lost time injuries/property damages
    • Achieve and continually maintain client satisfaction through the efforts of the operations personnel
    • Regular communication with the operations manager to maintain a high level of understanding about the work, resources, and overall client satisfaction
    • Promptly take a proactive approach to assess and mitigate hazardous conditions to ensure that all safety and operational activities are successful

     
    Qualifications and Skills:

    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required
    • Courses and/or education for additional learning in a related field, and environmental waste regulatory training is a definite asset
    • Class 3A license is required
    • Class 1A license is an asset

    Skills and Experience

    • A minimum of 2-4 years of roll-off truck driving experience
    • Knowledge and experience with roll off trucks and equipment
    • Computer literacy at a junior level
    • General mechanical aptitude by possessing knowledge of trucks and operational equipment
    • Clear communication and spotting techniques
    • Experience troubleshooting situations to find the right solutions
    • Proven organizational and time management skills

  • Front-Load Operator

  • Automatic-Side-Load Operator

    Reporting to the Operations Supervisor you will be responsible for picking up waste materials along designated routes. You will be operating various type of trucks – tandem axle truck with a rear load, side load or front-end load body (requirement to operate the unit from a right-side drive cab during collection is a possibility). This position is offered in both our Calgary & Edmonton locations.

    Qualifications and Skills

    • High school or GED equivalent is considered an asset
    • Minimum class 3 Operator’s License with air brake “Q” endorsement required
    • A clean drivers abstract is required
    • Pre-employment D&A Test before hire
    • A minimum of 2-4 years of automatic side-load truck driving/operating experience is required
    • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision (at times)
    • Lifting up 50 lbs repetitively throughout the day
    • Shifts may require occasional extension to ensure work is completed fully

  • Residential Waste Collection Driver - Edmonton

    This is a full-time permanent position based out of our Edmonton location. You will be responsible for the safe operation of the Automated Side Load equipment while loading and unloading a variety of waste from various residential collection sites to approved disposal locations.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Successfully, safely, efficiently and responsibly operate all assigned equipment and meeting assigned pick-up and delivery schedules
    • Conduct daily pre and post-trip inspections and ensure all safety paperwork are maintained and completed as required
    • Perform work assignments received from Field Supervisor in a timely manner, normally without close supervision
    • Prepare, maintain and present work orders, equipment maintenance, incident and safety reports as required, and communicate with Field Supervisor regularly
    • Promptly taking a proactive approach to assess and mitigate hazardous conditions to ensure that all safety and operational activities are successful

     

    Qualifications and Skills:

    Education

    • High School or GED equivalent is required
    • Class 3 license with air brake “Q” endorsement is required
    • Class 1A license is an asset

     
    Skills and Experience

    • A minimum of 4 years of truck driving experience
    • Previous waste collection industry and operating waste collection vehicles experience is required
    • General mechanical aptitude by possessing knowledge of trucks and operational equipment
    • Proven organizational and time management skills and ability to adapt to changes in short notice
    • Clear communication and spotting techniques

  • Swamper/Labourer

    This is a full-time permanent position based out of our Edmonton location. Reporting to the on-site Supervisor, you will be responsible for the safe loading and unloading of a variety of waste from various collection sites to approved disposal locations.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Manually load different types of residential waste material into mobile equipment
    • Ensure collection areas are void of waste and that carts/bins are placed back on client’s property in an upright position that doesn’t block the driveway, entrances, mailboxes, or traffic
    • Perform repetitive tasks in a safe and responsible manner
    • Assist with equipment maintenance and safety checks when required
    • Observe and recommend any operational efficiencies, processes, and procedure improvements, if any
    • Consistently follow safety procedures to target zero incidents, lost time, injuries, property damages, and/or environmental releases
    • Client satisfaction is achieved and continually maintained by the efforts of the Operations personnel.
    • Regular communication with the Operations Manager/Supervisor to maintain a high level of understanding about the work, resources, and overall client satisfaction.
    • Promptly taking a proactive approach to assess and mitigate hazardous conditions ensures that all Safety and Operational activities are successful.
    • Assist with other tasks as required.

     
    Qualifications and Skills:

    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required
    • Courses and/or education for additional learning in a related field, and environmental waste regulatory training is an asset
    • Clean drivers abstract with a class 3A drivers endorsement is an asset

     
    Skills and Experience

    • A minimum of 1 year of Swamper and/or Labourer experience
    • Previous and proven experience troubleshooting situations to find an effective solution
    • General mechanical aptitude by possessing knowledge of trucks and operational equipment
    • Clear communication and spotting techniques
    • Proven organizational and time management skills

     
    Additional Position Information and Requirements:

    • Monday to Friday, with potential for overtime and weekends based on job requirement. Shifts may require occasional extension to ensure work is completed fully
